Lewis Gregory is well on the way to making a full recovery.
The 24 year old all rounder underwent ankle surgery in the autumn to sort out an ongoing problem that had troubled him all of the 2016 season.
Discussing his rehab programme he said: “Things are coming on really well for me and I started to do some low intensity bowling drill work before Christmas. I’ve also done a couple more this week of slightly higher intensity. My ankle has come though it all really well and thanks to all the hard work that Jamie Thorpe (SCCC Physiotherapist) and Daz (Darren Venness, SCCC Head of Strength and Conditioning) have put in to helping me, it’s strong and I feel ready to get out there.”
Lewis went on: “I will be fit and ready to go to Desert Springs with the rest of the squad, but will only be there for four days before Tim (Groenewald) and I fly out to Dubai for the North v South series where it will be even warmer. I’m very much looking forward to getting outside but before I do, my intensities will have to be upped as I’m playing some games in early March. At the moment everything is really good and we are building towards me being flat out for the start of March.”
Lewis gave a little more detail regarding the North v South series. “We fly out to Dubai on March 11th and are there for 10 days,” he said. “During that time we play three games and a warm up fixture. It’s going to be a really good trip and a great experience. It’s a great opportunity to stake my claim for a white ball spot, so I will be going out there to show what I can do.”
