Somerset’s two captains for the 2017 season came head to head on opposing sides this weekend in Australia.
Tom Abell’s Fremantle took on Jim Allenby’s Claremont-Nedlands in the Western Australia Cricket Association First Grade competition yesterday (Sunday) at Cresswell Park.
It was Somerset’s white ball skipper who came out on top as Claremont-Nedlands won the first innings.
Fremantle won the toss and elected to bat. Tom came in at number three and made 56 from just 62 balls as his side made 219. Jim bowled seven extremely economical overs and conceded just 20 runs.
In reply Claremont-Nedlands reached 220 for six from 48.2 overs. Jim made an unbeaten 37 from 40 balls whilst Tom bowled 10 overs and took two for 45.
Elsewhere Adam Hose helped Kensington District CC to a 10 wicket win over Southern District whilst Max Waller has once again been in the wickets for Milnerton in South Africa.
