With Membership for the 2017 season going on sale in one week, what better way to countdown to Membership Day than by looking at our season in numbers?

There are just SEVEN days to go until you can purchase your new Membership so we will begin our countdown with the number SEVEN!

The number SEVEN featured quite heavily in Somerset’s 2016 campaign as you can see:

In September Marcus Trescothick took SEVEN catches in the Specsavers County Championship match against Warwickshire at the Cooper associates County Ground to equal the Club record for the most catches taken in a First Class match.  His seventh catch secured a 32 run win for Somerset and also broke Jack White’s all time record for the number of First Class career catches for the County.

There were SEVEN NatWest T20 Blast home fixtures at the Cooper Associates County Ground.  All of these matches were SOLD OUT!

Somerset reached the semi-final of the Royal London One-Day Cup in 2016 and on the way to the last four we won an impressive SEVEN matches.  The six group stage victories included the never to be forgotten one wicket win over Gloucester, away triumphs at Surrey and Hampshire plus home victories over Glamorgan, Middlesex and Sussex.  Our final and seventh win in the Royal London One-Day Cup came in the form of the stunning nine wicket victory over Worcestershire in the quarter-final.

In our opening home NatWest T20 Blast match of the season we beat Essex Eagles by SEVEN wickets. Having elected to field Somerset restricted the visitors to 178 for SEVEN with Yasir Arafat, Jamie Overton, Craig Overton, Lewis Gregory and Max Waller sharing the wickets between them.  Chris Gayle top scored with 49 from just 23 balls as Somerset reached the required target for the loss of just three wickets with 13 balls to spare.
