Somerset County Cricket Club has been recognised for outstanding work off the field this week after winning three awards at the prestigious Business of Cricket Awards.
The ECB’s annual event, which was held at Lord’s on Thursday, recognises excellence within the county game and highlights the outstanding accomplishments of the First Class Counties across the last 12 months.
Somerset scooped the highly sought after County Recognition Award as an acknowledgement for an extremely impressive year which saw the Club achieve record revenues and attendances, including selling out:
- Platinum Membership,
- All seven NatWest T20 Blast home fixtures
- The Royal London One-Day Cup quarter-final against Worcestershire
We also secured the Marketing & Communications Award for Category B/C Grounds for our 2016 Membership campaign along with our incredibly successful promotion of the NatWest T20 Blast competition.
The hat-trick of awards was completed by the Commercial Partnerships Award for our work with the Real Shaving Company, our Official NatWest T20 Blast Partner.
After winning the awards Somerset CCC Head of Commercial Operations Jez Curwin said: “Everyone at the Club should be really proud of what we have achieved over the last 12 months. We have a small but dedicated and enthusiastic team who are constantly striving to reach the highest possible standards in everything that they do. To sell out Platinum Membership and so many white ball matches is unprecedented within the sport and these awards are a tribute to the hard work that goes on behind the scenes in every department.
“The Real Shaving Company are a great company to work alongside and their enthusiasm for what we are trying to achieve has enabled us to do things that we’ve never done before.”
Jane Fletcher, Group Sales & Marketing Director for The Real Shaving Company said: “We really enjoy working with Somerset County Cricket Club and are delighted that our partnership has gained recognition from the ECB.”
ECB Chief Executive Officer, Tom Harrison, said: “There was intense competition for these awards, with a high quality of entries in all categories. Many congratulations must go to all of our winners and in particular to Somerset for winning awards in three different categories which is an outstanding achievement by all at the club.”
