2017 Specsavers CC and Royal London One-Day Cup fixtures

Following on from the earlier announcement of next years NatWest T20 Blast fixtures, we can now reveal the details of our matches in the Specsavers County Championship First Division and the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Having just missed out on the Specsavers County Championship title in 2016, Somerset will be looking to go one better next year.  We begin our quest for that elusive four-day trophy by welcoming newly promoted Essesx to the Cooper Associates County Ground on Friday April 14th before heading to Emirates Old Trafford to take on Lancashire on Friday April 21.

We have two home matches in May against Warwickshire and Hampshire and then at the beginning of June we are on the road and looking for revenge as we go to 2016 champions Middlesex.  June will also feature a home clash with Yorkshire and a rather special visit to Hampshire.  2017 will be a historic year for the competition with one round of matches being day/night fixtures.  Our first ever day/night County Championship match will be that clash at the Ageas Bowl beginning on June 26th.

July will see us make the long journey north to play at Yorkshire whilst in August we welcome Surrey to Taunton and travel to Essex.

September will see us in action no fewer than four times in the competition as we go to Warwickshire, host Lancashire, visit Surrey and then welcome Middlesex to the Cooper Associates County Ground for the last match of the season.  Given what happened on the last day of this season, there couldn’t possibly be a more fitting conclusion to the next campaign!

We played some of our best cricket in this years Royal London One-Day Cup and reached the semi-final of the competition.  Lets take a look at who we will be playing in 2017.

We begin the “Road to Lord’s” with a home fixture against Surrey on Friday April 28th followed by a trip to Sussex two days later.  We then have six fixtures in May with home games against Kent Spitfires, Hampshire and Essex Eagles plus away matches at Glamorgan, Gloucestershire and Middlesex.  A potential quarter-final would be held on Tuesday June 13th with semi-finals being staged on June 16th and 17th.  The showpiece final will be held at Lord’s on Saturday July 1st.
