A new book about Somerset cricket is hitting the shelves.
Somerset Cricketers 1882-1914 by Stephen Hill, with a foreword by Vic Marks, is the first of what the author plans to be a series of publications detailing the lives of all the men who have ever played first-class cricket for the county.
This book covers those who made their debuts before the First World War and features 227 players, nearly 450 photographs and even copies of their signatures. Some of them, like Jack White or ‘Sammy’ Woods will be familiar names to many supporters but every player, including the one-match wonders, is given their moment in the sun.
Stephen will be at the Somerset County Sports shop during the lunch interval on Wednesday signing copies of the book for Somerset Members and ticket holders.
Copies of the book will also be available to buy from Somerset County Sports at a cost of £16.99.
