Twelve teams featuring some of the region’s finest young players will be competing for the NatWest Under 19 T20 Finals Day on Sunday.
The event will take place across the four pitches at Uphill Castle CC and Weston-super-Mare CC.
The Somerset competition, sponsored by Somerset County Sports, has seen 34 teams battle it out to reach Finals Day with over 650 young players taking part. Fifteen matches will take place on the day as Deane Diamonds look to retain their title.
The defending champions face a tough task after being drawn alongside Bath Swords and Bridgwater Red Sox in Pool A. The winners will play the top team in Pool B which consists of Castle Thunder, Frome Falcons and Wembdon Renegades. Pool A and B will be playing their matches at Uphill Castle.
Weston Super Mare CC will host Pool C matches featuring Weston Super Kings, Perrott Monkeys and the unbeaten Whitchurch Gladiators. In Pool D Clevedon Coast Busters face the Wellington Warriors and Westland Whirlwinds who are both making their second appearance at Finals Day.
There will be music at both venues, hit zones, competitions, giveaways and BBQ’s to help create a great Finals Day atmosphere.
Somerset Cricket Board Club and League Development Officer Matt Counsell said: “Once again U19T20 has proved a huge hit across the county. Finals Day promises to be a great spectacle, just as it was in 2015, with twelve teams and over 130 young cricketers playing fast paced matches across four pitches on the same day.
“It has been brilliant to see the competition grow this season and to see players and clubs embrace the concept by creating some amazing match day experiences.”
Entry to the Finals Day is completely free with the group games commencing at 10am and the semi-finals starting at 3.30pm.
The final will get underway at approximately 5.30pm.
