Somerset Women’s team will be playing in Division One of the 2017 T20 competition after notching up the win that they needed recently at Durham.
Batting first the host county were restricted to 80 for eight and after a rain delay Somerset managed to get above the required rate and achieved the reduced target to win by 10 wickets.
Somerset then faced Worcestershire in a 10 over game where they came off second best.
Worcestershire posted 98 for two from their allotted overs in reply to which Somerset were always up against it, losing wickets regularly striving to keep up with the required rate and finished on 58 for nine.
Vice captain Sophie Luff said afterwards: “We’ve had a really good T20 campaign and we can take some real positives into the end of the season where we finish our 50 over campaign to try and avoid relegation from Division One.
The vice captain added: “It’s been great to see younger players step up, particularly Lorraine Szczepanski with the ball and Emily Bayliss has stepped up with the bat on more than one occasion to get us over the line.”
