Somerset Seconds beat Surrey at Bath.

Somerset Seconds were  in one day action at Bath Cricket Club on Monday where they beat Surrey by 10 runs at the end of an exciting 50 over Second XI Trophy match.

Somerset batted first at Bath and posted 253/8 from their 50 overs. Tom Abell was the standout, scoring 107 from 102 balls in a knock that featured 15 fours. Surrey enjoyed a profitable start, reducing the hosts to 50/3 when Eddie Byrom was caught behind for 33.

Abell developed partnerships with several Somerset batsmen, who all chipped in to ensure Somerset posted a competitive total at Bath.

When Surrey replied they were eventually all out for 243 in 45.3 overs, England Under 19 pair Ben Green and Dom Bess claiming three for 29 and three for 69 respectively while Jack Leach claimed two for 37.

Seventeen year old wicket-keeper Tom Banton claimed five victims in the innings, three stumping and two catches.
