Somerset have won their way through to Finals Day of the 2016 Second XI T20 competition that is taking place at Arundel CC in Sussex on July 14th.
Steve Snell’s men have won eight of the 12 matches that they have played.
Second XI coach Steve Snell said: “I am really pleased that we have made it through to the finals. We have played well throughout the tournament and everyone has played their part. However, two players have really stood out for me and they are Michael Leask and Dom Bess who have both done well in a team that has played winning cricket.
“Dom is an all rounder who has taken wickets and bowled really economically. He thrives on the competition element in this format of the game, loves getting involved in the battle and has done well with the bat in a couple of games. He has produced some match winning performances and Michael has been one of the standout performers in the competition and is the leading run scorer.”
The Scotland International has hit 306 runs from the 11 innings that he has played at an average of 38.25, which includes a best of 83.
Steve added: “It will certainly be an exciting occasion for the players who get to play in the Second XI T20 Finals Day and of course this will be a whole new experience for some of the younger members of the squad, so we are all looking forward to it.”
The other Counties to qualify for Finals Day are: Middlesex, Durham and Warwickshire.
