Somerset are in Second XI action today (Monday) when they face their Glamorgan counterparts in two T20 matches at Newport.
In match one Glamorgan won the toss and elected to field. Somerset slipped to eight for two as openers Ryan Davies and Garth Davson were dismissed early but a stunning century third wicket partnership between Josh Davey and Michael Leask put Somerset on top. Davey, who was captaining the side, made 38 from 45 balls but it was Leask who stole the show with a blistering knock of 83 from just 36 balls as Somerset reached 116 when the third wicket fell. Finn Trenouth and Harry Thomas failed to make double figures but a brisk 20 from Dom Bess helped to ensure that Somerset posted a total of 164 for six.
Glamorgan opener Nick Selman made 79 but the Somerset bowlers made life difficult for the home batsmen and Bess claimed four for 25 from his four overs to make sure that Glamorgan were restricted to 146 for seven from their alloted overs as Somerset won by 18 runs.
