England Women name unchanged squad for Taunton ODI

England Women 2016

England Women have named an unchanged squad for the third and final Royal London One-Day International against Pakistan at the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton on Monday.

England have already secured the series with an unassailable 2-0 lead after the first two matches, but will be seeking to finish positively as they strive to secure all six ICC Women’s Championship points on offer.

England will be looking to continue the form that saw them make their highest ever ODI score on Wednesday and Captain Heather Knight is keen to make sure that the team maintains those high standards.  “It’s been a really exciting start to the series and hopefully we can carry this on in Taunton on Monday,” she said.  “We love playing down at Taunton and had a great game down there in the Ashes last year.  The crowd are always brilliant, really vocal and very supportive in the South West which is great for me as I come from that part of the world.  It’s always nice to go back and play cricket there.  We’re massively excited to be back at Taunton and I’ll be there again with Western Storm in the Kia Super League later in the summer so hopefully Monday will raise some awareness of that too.”

Knight is delighted by how well her first two matches as England Captain have gone.  “I wanted a strong performance from the team to get a couple of wins under our belt but it’s been unbelievable,” she said.  “To break our record for the highest ODI total was fantastic.  It’s always nice to win games but to win them in the way that we have done is really pleasing.  That is the way that we want to play our cricket going forward.”

Despite England’s impressive performances so far this summer, the new Captain won’t be letting her side get complacent.  “There are still ICC Championship points up for grabs,” she said.  “So it’s really important that we continue with the momentum that we’ve built up in order to get those two points which will then carry us nicely in to the T20 series.”

Somerset’s Anya Shrubsole is the England Vice Captain and she can’t wait to represent here Country on her home pitch again.  “It’s always special to play at your home ground,” she said.  “I’m a Somerset girl born and bred and have been playing cricket for the County since I was 12 so to be able to represent my Country in Somerset is always very special.”

Women's Ashes launch event.

“It’s been a great series so far for us and the performances that we have put in in the first two games have been absolutely brilliant.  However, Monday is another game and we can’t take anything for granted.  We know that we will have to be at our best if we want to win.  The atmosphere in the camp is really good at the moment and we are playing some really good cricket.  Obviously we will be looking to get another win on the board on Monday but we won’t be taking anything for granted.”

This fixture is free to Members of Somerset County Cricket Club whilst tickets are still available at a cost of just £10 in advance and £15 on the gate with tickets for under 19′s priced at just £1.  To purchase tickets please click here
