Sadly no play was possible on the final day of Somerset’s Second XI Championship match against Glamorgan at Newport because of the overnight rain so the match has ended in a draw.
Somerset who ended on 93 for one overnight, with Tom Abell not out 58 still needed 296 runs for victory.
Glamorgan declared on their overnight score of 405 for three on day two of this Second XI Championship match.
Somerset had reached 17 without loss before rain caused a lengthy delay. The decision was then taken to declare on that score at which point Glamorgan also declared on 0 for 0 as both sides tried to create a result from this rain effected match.
When play finally closed on day two Somerset were 93 for one with Tom Abell unbeaten on 58.
Somerset will begin day three requiring a further 296 for victory.

Somerset Second XI started a three day Championship match against Glamorgan in Newport on Tuesday.
Play was delayed due to rain on day one but after winning the toss Glamorgan elected to bat.
The home side made a solid start and openers Nick Selman and Mark Wallace put on 60 for the first wicket before the latter was bowled by Michael Leask for 40.
By tea Glamorgan had moved on to 186 for one, Selman unbeaten on 52 and James Kettleborough 81 not out.
Kettleborough was eventually out for 92 when he was caught behind off Jake Roberts whilst Trenouth took his second catch of the match to give Joe Gore a wicket as Selman returned to the pavilion for 124.
By the close of play Glamorgan had reached 405 for three.
