Busy weekend for Somerset Women

Somerset Women

Somerset Women’s team will be looking to notch up their first victory since returning to the top division when they play against Middlesex and Berkshire over the course of this weekend.

Having disappointingly lost their opener against a strong Kent side and had their game against Staffordshire washed out Somerset will be looking to kick start their season and get some points on the board.

First up Somerset travel away to play against Middlesex today (Sunday) before hosting Berkshire on Bank Holiday Monday.

Looking ahead to the games Somerset Vice Captain Sophie Luff said: “It’s two games that we can definitely win.  There’s no doubt that Middlesex and Berkshire are two good teams but given we lost our first two games, we must target two wins this bank holiday weekend.  We have to score more runs and the top order batters need to take on that responsibility, myself included.  All in all our bowlers have put up a good fight in both games to date.  We simply need more runs on the board to compete in the top division.

Sophie added: “I know what we are capable of and our first two performances haven’t reflected that, so we are determined to put that right and turn it around this weekend, away to Middlesex at Teddington CC on Sunday, and home to Berkshire at Midsomer Norton CC on Monday.”
