Somerset supporters will be delighted to hear that Jamie Overton has recovered well from the muscle tear in his right calf that he sustained in the pre-season match against Gloucestershire and is in contention to be in the squad for the match against Cardiff MCCU at Taunton Vale on Sunday.
Jamie had his final work out on Wednesday when bowled a few overs for the Somerset 2nd XI against Worcestershire without any problems.
The six feet five inch tall paceman who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Sunday said: “Things are coming along nicely for me and I’m not feeling any pain which is a good thing for me, so it all seems to have gone smoothly. It’s been a bit frustrating for me to have to miss the first match of the season, but its probably better to make sure that I’m fit for the rest of the season.
Jamie added: “Now I want to start playing again and hopefully if all goes well then I’ll play in the match against Cardiff MCCU this weekend.”
