Thatchers named Official Cider Partner for two more years

Somerset County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that we have agreed a new Partnership with Thatchers Cider which will see them remain as the Club’s Official Cider Partner for another two years.

The deal is an extension of their current partnership with the County which will see the two organisations working together on a number of new ventures including the brand new Thatchers Terrace.  The Thatchers Terrace is the balconied area situated on the second floor of the new Somerset Pavilion which will enable both Members and large hospitality parties to enjoy the cricket from an unrivalled vantage point in relaxed and comfortable surroundings

Other benefits of the deal for Thatchers include exclusive cider pouring rights at the Cooper Associates County Ground, a day’s coaching session for young players from Winscombe Cricket Club, Thatchers local club and continued social media activities for supporters.

Thatchers have been making cider at their Myrtle Farm site at Sandford, Somerset since 1904 and use their knowledge and expertise of apple varieties to produce a range of premium bottled, draught and traditional ciders.

Head of Commercial Operations at Somerset CCC Jez Curwin said: “It’s fantastic news that Thatchers have re-signed with the Club.  Although a brand with national awareness, Thatchers remains very close to its Somerset roots and the tie up with the Cricket Club is a perfect fit. Their brand image dovetails perfectly with what we are trying to achieve here at the Club and of course Somerset and cider go hand in hand.  No day at the cricket is complete without a cold pint of Thatchers Gold!”

Martin Thatcher, fourth generation cidermaker and Managing Director of the family run company says, “We have some exciting initiatives planned this year at Somerset County Cricket Club, in particular the new Thatchers Terrace. We are delighted to continue our association with the Club.  We share very similar values, not least living and working in the fantastic county of Somerset. We wish everyone at the club a successful 2016 season.”
