Jamie Overton produced a T20 career best bowling performance to help England Lions to a 41 victory over Pakistan A in Dubai yesterday (Thursday).
After being put into bat first the Lions made 164 for 5 from their 20 overs with Dawid Malan top scoring with 80.
When Pakistan replied Jamie made an early breakthrough when he accounted for opener Fakhar Zaman with his third ball. Then the pace of Tymal Mills undid Shahzaib Hasan as he top-edged a hook to Overton at short fine leg.
The Somerset paceman then returned later in the innings and claimed a wicket with each of his last two deliveries to finish with three for 26 from his four overs.
Pakistan A were eventually all out for 123 in 19.3 overs.
After the match Jamie said: “It was really good to get out there, and I really did enjoy it. The batters set it up for us to finish it off with the ball. Getting to 160 made it quite tough for the Pakistanis under the lights. It’s really good to get back into the series and go into the last 3 games at 1-1.
He added: “It was great to get my best T20 figures so I am very pleased with that.”
The teams meet again under the floodlights tonight, with the remaining two games of the five-match series on Sunday and next Wednesday.
