Somerset County Cricket Club’s plans for the installation of floodlighting at the County Ground have taken a major step forward this week after receiving planning permission approval from Taunton Deane Borough Council.
Following Wednesday’s meeting of the Council’s Planning Committee Somerset CCC Chairman Andy Nash said: “We are delighted to have received planning consent for the installation of permanent floodlights at The County Ground. Once again we’re grateful for the support and belief that Taunton Deane Borough Council invests in our Club. The lights will allow Somerset and England to play day/night cricket which is going to become an increasingly important part of the domestic and international game. This will bring substantial benefits not only to the Club, but also to the town and the community that we serve.”
The planning application is for the erection of five floodlight masts and two substations which will be located at the County Ground.
